Yeah, I thought it was better to keep 'everything gta' in one place. Soon, we will change forum name to GTA Gaming Clan :)

Beats playing BF4 or BF Hardline :P

  • From extensive playtime I can confirm that using ALT + TAB no longer causes GTA V to remain un-tabbable (or unresponsive) in the latest patch.
  • GTA V is still unstable with any overclocking to GPU on the latest driver. Overclocking to the CPU is fine, but keep your RAM clock/timings at stock if you have crashes.
  • Doing anything while GTA V is running in the background STILL causes slow response from other apps and input lag from keyboard/mouse/controller. It feels like the game is claiming exclusive access to the GPU and hogging it. However, those running in borderless window mode won't be affected but this stops SLI and/or GeForce Experience ShadowPlay from working unless you revert back to fullscreen. Game runs flawlessly and looks great recording with ShadowPlay, ideal for those without SLI/CF needed to run Fraps that I still prefer.
  • Added: Tested Nvidia Control Panel forced VSync and this causes regular crashing, normally every 40 minutes. Used this as GTA V performance slightly under used and felt smoother, now because of the crashing I am back to using ingame VSync because I can't stand the tearing.

When I can pull myself from rl work and GTAV I will post a table to the games various command options and link in main post, I know this is well overdue now but such is life ;) Had been trying to find the various options available for each command line and while I have found many scattered about forums some fields will be blank. If you need me to find particular GTA V options or have a problem with the game and would like suggestions, leave a post and I'll see if I can help.

Rockstar have had a Q&A running covering a range of issues that people raised, remember these are questions from those on PC and consoles.

A TLDR version is:

  • Update coming soon featuring more cars, weapons, and other cool stuff. Takes time to create new quality content that everyone would enjoy.
  • Rockstar Editor not coming to last gen due to slower processor but working on Editor for Xbox One and PS4. Radio station The Lab coming to all four consoles.
  • Limitations to last gen reduces capabilities for updates and additional content. Possible to add more content but even current gen is reaching that limit.
  • Custom playlist of MP3 not possible on consoles due to technical limitations.
  • Limitations to modding on PC remains the same as with GTA IV and not additional changes to restrictions have been made. Last patch made single player mods unplayable, unintentionally so, because they conflict with crucial game files and therefore no longer compatible.
  • PC version may include additional support for peripherals.
  • Rockstar recommends Mac users to use Boot Camp and install Windows 7 or 8 to run GTA V, Mac isn't officially supported.
  • Rockstar is lenient towards general gameplay footage being uploaded to YouTube or streamed to Twitch but they don't stand for those that show glitches (bar speedruns)/cheat/hacks or ruin gameplay with spoilers at the expense of others - those that do will receive a strike and likely be tracked down and likely have their GTA Online account restricted (seen it reported). GTA V algorithms to detect hacks is constantly being tuned no matter how small the usage is.

Here I will post all those questions if you want to read their response in full, any objection to posting this please let me know and I'll leave the source for reference.

“The real question is: on what are we going to spend the money from the Heists? (For those who have practically everything)” – vens243
“What’s coming next [for GTA Online]…??” – Nilix
“Will there be more [Heists] added with future updates?” – carl0winer

To vens243 and others who are excited to show off their Heists spoils, beyond the many new vehicles and items that arrived to GTA Online as part of Heists, we are also working on another update coming soon that will feature some very cool new toys for you to enjoy and flaunt with your ill-gotten gains. For now, the screenshot above provides just a glimpse... For those asking for more Heists, please understand that Grand Theft Auto Online Heists were a tremendous undertaking so it’s not the sort of thing where we can easily create and publish additional Heists like other Job modes and missions. We are, however, working on other cool updates for GTA Online that you can expect over the coming months.

“I would like to use [the Rockstar Editor] but I’m on PS4. Hey Rockstar, can you do something please for PS4 players?” – Black_Pawn_01
“When’s [The Lab radio station] coming on next-gen consoles?” – GRUNSKY
“Is [The Lab radio station] ever gonna come out on PS4?” – sn3jku

The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with GTAV on the older systems, but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready. We are also planning to bring The Lab radio station to all four consoles in a forthcoming title update. Please stay tuned for more information.

“Will there be any more updates for [GTA Online] on Xbox 360?” – @ColtsPacersJosh

We want to support the older consoles with new content for as long as we possibly can. As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting.  We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall. As of now, we are planning on releasing the next big content update for all five systems and we will continue to squeeze as much as we possibly can onto them.

“Why is [Self Radio] not possible on PS3/PS4?” – Destroy_Ger
“How about creating something like that in PS4/3 and Xbox platforms?” – Osprey11
“Can you put this on PS4 or Xbox 1 at least?” – RayzRBlayde1229

The GTAV PC Self Radio experience that plays your personally curated playlist of mp3s in the game as a fully featured and properly integrated radio station just wouldn’t technically be possible on the consoles as it requires more than the consoles allow at this time.

“I’m having soo much fun with GTAV on the PC but I just have one question about it, how come you are not allowing mods for it?” - @ClarkMatthew63
“Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” - @Mattophobia

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV.  Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.

“We want to play GTAV with joystick. Will you add joystick support for PC? There is a huge difference between gamepad and JS.” – @eniyikotuadam
“Just wondering if there’s a possibility of including joystick support for GTAV in any upcoming patches or updates?” – received via Mouthoff
“Rockstar friends, GTAV PC version would be significantly enhanced if players could use their steering wheels.” – received via Mouthoff

Thank you for the feedback! We understand that many PC players out there would like to see enhanced peripheral support for specialized controllers such as flight sim joysticks and steering wheels. No promises, but it is something we are investigating to see if possible in a future update.

“Can I play GTAV on my Mac?” – received via Mouthoff
“Why this game isn’t [available for] Mac?” – Jaalloav

While GTAV isn’t technically released for Mac, you can actually play the PC version on a Mac by running Windows 7 or 8 through Boot Camp. You can find instructions along with some other requirements over at Rockstar Support.

“Hi Rockstar! Please report these guys on YouTube who destroy your game. Look at all the cheats they promote in their videos… I’d be grateful for answers on what you plan to do with about this?” – Aleek94
“Okay, so I've let this slip under the carpet, but now I'm really starting to get pissed off with the whole situation. I can accept people grinding Capture or Rooftop Rumble, what I can't get over is the amount of people doing money and RP glitches, and the YouTubers who are feeding the community with them... I suggest you take action on the YouTubers who are promoting these glitches… they need dealing with, because they're the ones starting to destroy GTA Online...” – ilewisgta

We are tremendous fans of the vast majority of YouTube content that fans post using footage from our games – everything from original machinima movies to funny gameplay moments to hypnotizing time-lapses and so much more – but we obviously do not support or condone any videos that attempt to instruct people how to cheat their way towards illegitimate RP, counterfeit GTA$, duping vehicles without having earned them and other things along those lines that compromise the fairness of the game’s ranking and economy systems. We have a long-standing policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material over at the Rockstar Support website, and to make things clearer on this front, we’ve just added a bulletpoint about this particular type of content there. Just like our other long-standing rules about not posting pre-release leaked footage, spoilers or entire in-game television content episodes – anyone who posts videos that encourage and promote ways to cheat your way towards gaining illegitimate RP or counterfeit in-game money or duplicating in-game items without having earned them may have their videos flagged for takedown with YouTube. Thank you again to everyone in the community (and especially the hardworking and creative GTA YouTube community!) for helping to bring this matter to our attention. Thanks also to everyone in the community for your ongoing efforts since the launch of GTA Online in reporting glitches, bugs and exploits to us via the Support website – it’s invaluable information that helps inform fixes in Title Updates and via dynamic tuning to help keep GTA Online as fair as possible for everyone.

“Are you guys doing anything to fix godmode/invisibility and unlimited ammo [in GTA Online]?” - @TacticalTaco5

Absolutely. We have always taken this issue very seriously and have people dedicated to addressing these problems when they arise. Unfortunately even a tiny minority of people cheating can have a negative impact on a larger population. In addition, solving this problem requires a different approach on each platform. We have been regularly rolling out fixes for specific exploits and tools to enable us to combat cheating with each patch and we are going to continue to do so. While it’s unrealistic to say we can solve the problem of cheating forever and for everyone, we believe we are making significant progress on this issue and we will continue to work aggressively to stop these griefers in their tracks as best we can.

GTA V Malware and how to protect your Social Club account

Rockstar posted a little response to those asking how to best protect their Social Club account. Comes in response to Airplane and noclip mods that contained malware/virus/keyloggers on the popular fan site site

I was originally made aware of this on the 12th May from DarkSithPro on the forum dslreports. As the GTA4-Mods post was made on the main page wall and not a unique URL, I will post it in full here to inform others and for future reference to better protect yourself to the wonders of PC mods, well maybe not in this case!

Malware found in Angry Planes and No Clip scripts - change passwords now!

Posted by rappo on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 8:00am

This morning it was discovered that the Angry Planes and No Clip scripts hosted on this site and elsewhere contained malware that ran a program known as "Fade.exe" which acted as a keylogger. Please read this post to learn how to remove the malware!

How did this happen?
The Angry Planes mod was downloaded and run by thousands of people on and various other community mod hosting sites and forums. It was even featured in Kotaku and PC Gamer! The mod did exactly what it advertised, however it also spawned a thread that installed malware on your machine behind the scenes. The threat was not picked up by running the .asi file through VirusTotal, which made it difficult to detect before running. This was an extremely sneaky attack, something I can't say I've seen in 12 years of GTA modding.

What should I do now?
If you haven't uninstalled the scripts yet - DO! That's not enough, though. You'll also need to check your computer for "Fade.exe" and other offending applications. Follow this post on GTAForums for more details. We highly advise that you change sensitive passwords, since this keylogger could have picked up any of the keys you inputted since running it. You can change your password via the Account Settings page.

What is going to do?
Beyond obviously removing these files from our site, we're going to beef up the approval process on these kinds of scripts. We're very sorry to the legitimate mod authors out there, the "bad guys" ruined a good thing! If you post compiled scripts in .asi, .dll, or .net.dll formats, the approval process will be much lengthier. We recommend avoiding these formats completely and publishing your mods as .lua or .cs source files, these kinds of scripts will be approved very quickly because the source can be verified.

How can I stay safe?
We will be doing our best to avoid hosting these kinds of files on our site. If you're still paranoid, avoid tools and script mods, which are currently the only types of GTA V mods that could potentially contain malware. Any mod installed by OpenIV (which we 100% trust), including handling/weapon/data config mods and model/texture swaps, can't contain malware because of the nature of their sources.

Question: Are the any general rules I should follow to keep others from accessing my Social Club account?
Answer: Here are some tips that can help you protect your Social Club account.

  • Do update your Social Club password regularly.
  • Do create complex passwords that are not based on dictionary words.
    • Don’t use something like “Franklin1”.
    • Something like “Fr4nK!1n1B0$$” would be better.
  • Do report any suspicious activity immediately to Rockstar Support.
  • Do use publicly available password vaults (e.g., KeePass, LastPass) to protect your credentials if you need to write your password down.
  • Do log out of the Social Club, Rockstar Support, and Rockstar Warehouse sites when you are finished using them.
  • Do check your email and follow the instructions immediately when requesting a password reset
  • Do change your password every few months.

  • Don’t share your Social Club credentials with anyone.
  • Don’t re-use your Social Club password on other websites that you have accounts, or your computer’s login, and vice versa.
  • Don’t post your login information on any Support forums or social media if you are having an issue.
  • Don’t use information like your name, birthday, hometown, favorite movie/sports team, or your best friend’s name in any part of the password.
  • Don't download third-party software pertaining to Rockstar titles from people you don't know or trust regardless of what the software claims to do.
  • Don’t log into third-party websites claiming to perform GTA services (e.g., emblem creation, stats managers, recovery services). These services may steal your password, even if their service works.
  • Don’t log into Social Club or other Rockstar websites from computers you don't own, such as an Internet Café. Do not accept any SSL/TLS warnings you run into when accessing Social Club or other Rockstar websites over Public Wi-Fi.
