Sapphire TRI-X OC 290X - Cat 13.12 Avg FPS/Temps/Overclock

Card Specs:

Stock - 1040 core / 1300 mem / Voltage: Idle .938-.945 / Load 1.125-1.141 Average

 

Other samples on Overclock.net confirm that Sapphire TRI-X uses only Hynix Memory modules (R0C model), can confirm with my own card.

Updated Info: AB allows for AUX Voltage control which is related to the memory voltage, with a +50mv increase I went from a max of 1500 to 1690mhz. Thus also caused a slight increase in VRM2 temp, going from an average of 51-53 to an max of 55C in all benches.

 

Best score: 3297 ' alt='' class='ipsImage' width="1000px" height="562px">" title="External link">' alt='' class='ipsImage' width="1000px" height="562px"> [ For this score, I used slightly higher core clocks which required 195mv offset on core for stability and caused 100C VRM1 Temps. Definitely was not ideal or a daily driver]

Dunno why I ran this at 1500 Memory but I'll update when I do it with the higher memory clock. Might provide some better numbers.

My Extreme score seems kinda low from what I was expecting.

I hope this can help give people some idea on the temps and clocks possible with this card. I do have some higher than expected VRM1 temps, I hope to see other samples to make sure my card isn't out of spec.

Very nice card you got there Paulenski :)

 

Yes I heard that VRMs temps get a little hotter than expected with custom 290(x) cards, I'm thinking about R9 290(non-x) reference and put my :cooler: on it, but VRMs temperatures should stay near 90º(VRM1) with a little OC, which is not good to achieve higher OCs.

 

So a heatsink like this one used in HIS 280X should be a better option to keep VRM and VRAM temps lower on AMD's Hawaii cards.(HIS custom model 290(x) should arrive soon) B)

Stock settings, used their "Ultra" setting for the tests. Does it impact performance greatly?

I think it does. Plus, I think it's worthless for multiplayer, because you are basically blurring your sight, I always disable it. Anyway I asked because my performance is much better, and I'm at 1440p. I expected 290X to perform much better at 1080p.
