  5. MSI Afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 10 (RTSS 7.0.0 Beta 23) MSI Afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 10 (RTSS 7.0.0 Beta 23) Changelog: Version 4.4.0 Added core voltage control for reference design NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 series graphics cards Added core voltage control for reference design NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Xp series graphics cards Added core voltage control for reference design NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti series graphics cards Revamped voltage control layer gives additional freedom to extreme overclockers with new custom design MSI graphics cards with Quad Overvoltage technology support. Now MSI Afterburner is able to control up to 4 independent voltages on future custom design MSI graphics cards Improved 5-channel thermal monitoring module architecture provides support for up to 20 independent thermal sensors per GPU (up to 5 independent GPU, up to 5 independent PCB, up to 5 independent memory and up to 5 independent VRM temperature sensors) on future custom design MSI graphics cards Added NCT7802Y thermal sensors support to provide compatibility with future custom design MSI graphics cards Improved hardware database format. New database subsections support provides more compact database definition for multiple graphics card models sharing similar hardware calibration info New cached I2C device detection algorithm improves application startup time on the systems with multichannel voltage controllers or multichannel thermal sensors Added experimental interleaved hardware polling mode, aimed to reduce hardware polling time on the systems with multiple polled I2C devices. When interleaved polling is enabled, just a part of hardware monitoring data sources is being polled on each hardware polling period, so it takes multiple periods to refresh all monitoring data sources. Power users may enable interleaved hardware polling mode via the configuration file if necessary Improved third party voltage control mode functionality. Now third party hardware database can also include extended thermal sensors calibration and mapping info for third party custom design graphics cards Improved voltage/frequency curve editor for GPU Boost 3.0 capable NVIDIA graphics cards: - Toggling locked curve point state with <L> key is working properly now and no longer resulting in setting a lock to a minimum clock/frequency point - Now you may hold <Alt> key while adjusting the offset of any point with mouse to move the curve up/down. That’s equal to adding fixed offset to each point’s offset Various parts of hardware monitoring module have been pumped up to improve hardware monitoring usability and flexibility. Some new portions of old good functionality from original RivaTuner are now available in MSI Afterburner: - Added experimental clock monitoring for Intel CPUs - Added new “Benchmark” tab allowing you to use hidden RivaTuner Statistics Server’s benchmarking engine, which was previously available to reviewers only. The engine is providing you the following features: You may define a hotkey for beginning framerate statistics recording. Once the recording begun, it stays active for all subsequently started 3D applications, even after rebooting the system While recording is active you may enable showing own statistics in RivaTuner Statistics Server to see minimum, average and maximum framerate in the On-Screen Display While recording is active you may press “Begin recording” hotkey one more time to restart the recording and reset the statistics While recording is active you may press “End recording” hotkey once to end recording and save benchmark results to a text file, but keep the results shown in On-Screen Display. You may press the hotkey one more time to hide the results from the On-Screen Display Statistics saved to a benchmark results file includes per-application total benchmarking time, total rendered frames number, global average, instantaneous minimum and instantaneous maximum framerates. Benchmark statistics file can be optionally either overwritten or appended on each recording session Per-frame frametime statistics is being pushed to a named pipe so reviewers can use their own client software to collect and display it in realtime while any benchmark is running without system slowdown, which is typical for traditional per-frame frametime logging approach - New flexible On-Screen Display customization features powered by RivaTuner Statistics Server’s text formatting tags: Added On-Screen Display layouts support. Layout selection settings are located in “Monitoring” tab next to “Show in On-Screen Display”, you may select different layouts to change On-Screen Display appearance style. Now you may switch between traditional classic On-Screen Display layout or new modern column-oriented On-Screen Display layout. Power users may customize predefined layouts or create new ones via configuration file if necessary The maximum text length for “Override group name” setting is no longer limited by 8 symbols. Now you may embed new RivaTuner Statistics Server’s text formatting tags directly into your custom group name, e.g. “<C=FFFFFF>GTX 1080<S=-50>1<S><C>” to display it in On-Screen Display in white color and with 50% size subscript index Now it is allowed to override group names for “Framerate” and “Frametime” graphs, so you may append default application 3D API <APP> tag with some custom text or replace it completely if necessary Exactly the same flexible level of On-Screen Display customization output is available to any other RivaTuner Statistics Server client applications like AIDA, HwInfo and others and will be available shortly - Improved profiles architecture. Now MSI Afterburner can store hardware monitoring module settings in the profile slots. This allows you to switch between different On-Screen Display configurations on the fly with hotkeys bound to profile slots. You may configure desired profile slot contents in new “Profile contents” settings group in “Profiles” tab. - Original RivaTuner’s task scheduler functionality is back! Now you may define optional minimum and (or) maximum thresholds for any graph in hardware monitor module to track the most critical hardware health parameters and to be notified on reaching a critical threshold: User defined thresholds are displayed on each graph to allow you to control each parameter safety zone visually When the threshold is reached blinking warning icon is displayed in top left corner of monitoring window and in Logitech keyboard LCD if graph LCD display mode is selected When the threshold is reached you can see the name of graph triggering the alarm in hardware monitoring status line When the threshold is reached background of graph triggering the alarm is highlighted with color to allow you to identify it visually When modern On-Screen Display layout is selected, parameters triggering the alarm can be highlighted by color in On-Screen Display to allow you to identify it easily Improved system information window. Now 3D API usage info, x64 and UWP application architecture attributes are displayed for each currently running process in the list of active 3D applications RivaTuner Statistics Server has been upgraded to v7.0.0 Afterburner Features:: Based on RivaTuner core, Afterburner contains the mix of the most popular and frequently used RivaTuner's technologies exposed in new simple and effective user interface Unified features for both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards. 8. Sorry mate, no pics. I've had dozens of videocards since but never felt the need to photograph any of them :-) Ah DOS, the good old days, messing with autoexec.bat config.sys and Qemm to get those last few extra kb freed up to get a game to start...
  9. Nice, do you have any pics? I remember Voodoo era quite well, but I never had the opportunity to use any of those cards. Most DOS games were running just fine without any accelerator. The first game ever to give me a low framerate was Destruction Derby 2.
  10. I was a silent lurker of this forum but for this I couldn't resist and created an account :-) I guess I must be one of the oldest ppl here because my first 3d card was the Canopus Pure3D based on the voodoo fx.. And what was so special about it was that it had 6MB of ram instead of the competition's 4MB. Yes you read that right, a whole 6 MB :-) I even imported it from the us to europe. That was around 1997. God I'm getting old.

WOT! Another Free Game? Here's a deal hard to turn down, unless that is you are one the millions that already has this popular title. Overkill Software is currently giving away the base game PayDay 2 on Steam, hit the 'Install Game' (as shown in the image below) and it's now permanently linked to your account. You can install at a later point in time if you just wanted the game. This version will not include any DLCs, however you can update to the Ultimate Edition at a later date if you wanted. This message will confirm registration: And going back to the URL, you'll be greeted by a green banner indicating you have the game on your account with the message: "PAYDAY 2 is already in your Steam library" Next... PayDay 2: Ultimate Edition A new fullprice version costing $45 and referenced as PayDay 2: Ultimate Edition will include the base game include all currently released DLCs into one package. All DLCs that were already released will be integrated into PayDay 2. For those of you tired of so many games that have dominant business model around DLCs because it certainly put me and others off, I'm sure this will be a relief but too late for a game originally released nearly 5 years ago and with no upgraded HD Texture Packs. If you've been playing over this period then you've no doubt seen your fair share of updates and further game patches will address any issues as support is now extended for another year. Here is the Ultimate Edition FAQ.

  14. About time you upgraded your 780 Ti's Abvolt, perhaps check out the Xp if you really wanted the fastest card to last another 18 months and avoid further delays. Memory clocks really well (above 1080 Ti to 12.4GHz easily) and power limit of 120% is good enough imo. The main limiting factor is heat (still need to get mine blocked) otherwise I've heard from other Xp owners (various forums) that they see boost maintain 2GHz+ alongside OC mem. Worth mentioning the £950 1080Ti HOF 8 Pack Edition which also hits above 2GHz too, like every other GP102!!! Even if the Kingpin has more than 12+3 phases on the 8 Pack it's likely to only come into play with XOC - that's the target of both cards as we know and I hope this time they get rid of pricing by ASIC - technically 8 Pack is already pricing by ASIC with two versions yet only £50 difference.
  15. I would go with the sapphire also, Im not saying gigabyte cards are bad or anything I've just had bad luck with their cards & psu's..enjoy
  16. Well I was considering the Evga gtx 1080 ti FTW 3 but things have changed since the news of the 1080 ti Kingpin release. I'm currently using out of one of my other rigs a R9 295x2 gpu which is an awesome card but a new 1080 ti kpe wow can't wait, I'll post some pics when I get my 1080 ti kingpin, also waiting for my new Phantek enthoo evolv glass case, still using & loving my pair of 780 ti kingpins in my older rig, Hopefully waterblocks aren't too far off, oh I did replace my keyboard SMiThaYe thanks..enjoy

  18. I just sold my 7970 and I am now looking for a value RX 580 4GB with good cooling. I am not concerned with getting good OC potential, rather with low noise levels. I have narrowed in on the Gigabyte Gaming 4G (GV-RX580GAMING-4GD) and Sapphire Pulse (11265-09-20G). The former is in stock and approx. $15 cheaper, but I suspect that the Sapphire Pulse will offer lower noise levels since it is using the NITRO+ fans, although with a slimmer heat sink. What are your experiences with these cards from a performance/noise point of view? Thanks all! :-)

  21. Steam

Mentioned this in shoutbox yesterday when Bethesda sent an email, making a quick post since the deal is now live. Note that the base game is free to play, DLC is not included but you can always mod to your hearts content with either Steam or NexusMods. User reviews are mixed due to the hardcore following (which I understand) and most the mechanics are dumbed down, too much settlement busywork and annoying characters - however I really enjoyed it and have over a 1k hours which is more than normal due to the numerous mods I have installed and my passion for building huge settlements. There's enough DLC content and it's good enough quality in my opinion bar Contraptions but the best DLC is no doubt Far Harbor. Fallout 4, OpenCritic score of 87%, is free to play over the weekend and -67% off base game and -40% off season pass - http://store.steampowered.com/app/377160/ If you're still not sure check out the game yourself and grab some mods and I suggest the following, none of these will cause game-breaking issues compared to the other mods: MOD: Achievements - simply allows you gain achievements with mods, relies on F4SE. MOD: Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - essential bugfixes and balancing BUT only install if you have ALL DLC since it relies on other assets. TOOL: LOOT - same tool you use for other Fallout and Elder Scrolls series of games to ensure optimal priority of mods load order MOD: New Dialog - aimed at showing what the character would say than annoying you with answers you wouldn't say MOD: Improved Map with Visible Roads - what it says on the tin! I can lead you deeper down the rabbit hole (more complicated) and quickly mention DEF_UI for more of your inventory to be displayed without RSI-inducing scrolling, Place Everywhere which makes building less frustrating and requires F4SE which is why it won't run on consoles, and Spring Cleaning is safe to use (much safer than Scrap Everything) for those wanting perfect settlements or OCD sufferers alike. Like with any mod and especially these: read the description carefully, watch videos, and check the comments.

  25. Firstly, if you don't know where to buy from then may I suggest you hire a product manager to help select, organise and negotiate such deals first in your particular region. Secondly, it's perfectly fine to ask for guidance on GPUs like most tech forums but please avoid potentially soliciting for business and hoping a company bites your hand off to do a deal. That's not the purpose of this forum in order to avoid any issues arising from a potential scenario. As it says on the main website for our email addresses, we are a media site and don't buy or sell hardware.
